Name: Ruth
Species: Sunset Dragon
Job: Works as a camp counselor in the summer and at a yarn store the rest of the year.
Likes: camping under the stars, hiking, hammocks, LARPing, arts and crafts, crushing beer cans on her head, cooking big meals for her friends.
Dislikes: Staying inside too long, fluorescent lights, the haters.
Music taste: The Chicks, Fall Out Boy, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Bragg, Cascada.
Hobbies: She’s learning to play the banjo and sucks ass at it.
Car: She drives a forest green Subaru.
Abilities: Became a shapeshifter when she was 20 from a spell she found on the Internet.
Fun facts: Her hair is naturally brown. She's never taken herself seriously in her life.
Outfits: Flannel, comfortable jeans, Converse, hiking boots, Crocs, homemade tank tops, muscle tees, sweatpants, cargo shorts, and Hawaiian shirts.
Relationships: She’s married to Am and T, but it’s a very open relationship. She considers herself a hopeless romantic and dreams of settling down and raising a kid someday. Unfortunately, it's hard to settle down when you've got bitches crawling all over you like a harem anime protagonist. Few things in live make you more of a babe magnet than being a butch dragon.
Drinks of choice: wine coolers, Cheerwine and cherry vodka, hard seltzers.

Name: Maggie
Species: Bicorn
Job: Works as an archivist at Furry University, since being a part-time DJ and full-time sex wizard doesn’t pay the bills.
Likes: Dancing, reading tomes, embroidery, making playlists, talking about philosophy, weird pretentious movies, and doing crazy magic drugs.
Dislikes: Headaches, chronic pain, posers, video-based social media.
Music taste: Kate Bush, Evanescence, Nine Inch Nails, Bauhaus.
Car: She drives an airbrushed panel van, and if you open the back doors a certain way it becomes the entrance to her wizard tower.
Abilities: Has actual literal magic powers, but dropped out of Wizard Grad School for her unorthodox sex wizard approach.
Fun facts: Her hair is naturally purple, and she doesn’t dye her eyebrows. She takes herself more seriously than she thinks she does.
Outfits: crop tops, mesh shirts, Tripp pants, Demonias (for horses), Crocs, black booty shorts, corsets, skinny jeans, and wizard robes.
Relationships: Maggie used to think of herself as a "love em and leave em" badass, but that was before she started appreciating the power of long-term hookup pals. She still isn't the long term romantic relationships type.
Drinks of choice: potions, Faygo and whipped cream vodka, 4Lokos.

Pink Lemonade: Axolotl Mermaid
I never even had a name for this sona, I just always referred to her as "pink lemonade mermaid" in my head. She was always listening to Marina and the Diamonds! This is because at the time, in 2013, I also was always listening to Marina and the Diamonds. She was only barely a sona, but I think she represents my first steps toward the "I can represent myself with a cool animal" mindset.
Etoile: Spotted Hyena
Etoile was a design I kicked around for a couple weeks in 2014. I was really in my quote unquote "pastel goth" phase, due to me having been on Tumblr for the last three years. For reference, here's a drawing of one of my other OCs in the same style made around the same time. Unfortunately for my Furry Cred, she never really stuck. In hindsight I think it's because I made her too femme. And also because I was making myself too femme! I owned that dress she's wearing and I wore my hair like that, but something about it felt a little off at the time. Deciding that Ruth was a little more butch (relatively speaking) than I was presenting at the time was, in retrospect, an important component of my Gender Journey. It was also probably because I was still trying to figure out what "my aesthetic" was. I spent a lot of college doing that. Ironically, I also spent a lot of college insisting I wasn't a furry, to the point where it became a running joke among my friends. Look at me now!
Other Sonas
After Etoile failed to stick, I remember kicking around a possum sona for a bit who was always wearing a hoodie, and then later a cool blue sun bear. I think I also considered a cheetah for a bit, since they were my favorite animals as a kid. I haven't managed to track down their art yet, but I hope to someday. Nothing is as cool to me as a big dragon, though, which is why Ruth was the first sona I really got excited about!
I've written some stories about my sonas and my friends' sonas! Check it out!
